
Governor Bassey Otu Commends Ahmadiyya’s Strides in Education and Humanitarian Services
The Amir (National Head) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, during his official visit to Cross River State, paid a courtesy call on the Governor, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, at the Government House, Calabar.
In his remarks, the respected Amir Sahib commended Governor Otu for his visionary leadership and the impactful implementation of his People’s First Agenda, which has positively touched every facet of governance in the state. He lauded the Governor for his inclusive approach and the support extended to the Muslim community in Cross River, which has continued to enhance peaceful coexistence among residents of diverse faiths.
The Amir also appreciated the Governor for appointing Alhaji Imam Kabir Olowolayemo into his administration, describing the appointment as a demonstration of the Governor’s commitment to fairness, and inclusivity.
Earlier in his remarks, His Royal Highness, the Ejeh of Ankpa, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Sadiq Yakub II appreciated the Governor for his support of the Muslim Community in the State. He said Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat’s motto ‘Love For All Hatred None’ resonated in all their undertakings everywhere they are. He thereafter confered ‘Serikin Hujaj’ on the Governor to appreciate his support to the Muslim community in the State.
Governor Otu, in his response, warmly welcomed the respected Amir sahib and his entourage to Cross River State. He commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for its remarkable contributions to education, healthcare, and humanitarian services across Nigeria. The Governor noted that the community’s long-standing record of selfless service aligns with his administration’s vision of building a prosperous and people-centered state.
He further assured the respected Amir sahib of his continued support for religious harmony and collaboration in promoting moral and social development among the citizens.
The Governor was joined by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor A. Owan-Enoh, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, Chairman Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Kabeer Olowolayemo, to welcome the delegation that included the Missionary in charge, Maulvi Adnan Tahir, the Naib Amir Taleem & Tarbiyya, Alhaji Lateef Folorunsho, the General Secretary, Com. Ayelagbe Jabar, the Circuit President Calabar, Engr. Musa Kazeem, Central Missionary Calabar, Maulvi AbdulHafeez Akere, President of Qadha Board, Professor AbdulMajeed Hassan Bello, among others.
